Self Assessment Tax-How to pay on line??


To pay income tax online follow the steps as explained below:
  • Step 1- Go on to the following link: copy & paste following URL in your browser-
 https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp  
  • Step 2- Screen as per this image will appear:
Here Select CHALLAN No./ITNS 280

  • Step 3- Proceed on ITNS-280, screen with various details as per following image will appear:
    • Tax Applicable is Income Tax Other Then Companies

    • Type of Payment will be Self Assessment Tax

    • Mode of Payment you need to select as per your Choice



  • Step 3 Continued
Further your personal Details are required as displayed in the image below:
    • Your PAN - You will get your Name as per your PAN displayed on the payment portal of your bank

    • Make sure to enter correct assessment year. (Assessment Year 2020-21 for financial year 2019-20)

    • Address and e-mail, phone number etc need to be filled in.

    • Now on proceeding it will take you to a confirmation screen.


  • Step 4
    • Following confirmation screen will appear and the details as shown there will be submitted to NSDL and to you Bank.

    • Confirm your details and submit to bank.

    • Now it will take you to your Bank's page. Here you need to select th mode of payment as per your choice.



  • Step 5
    • Now at your Bank's window you need to enter the details of tax payment.

    • Enter total sum of Tax payment to be made under the head TAX.

    • Confirm and proceed for payment.

    • After payment being confirmed, ther will be an option to download Tax Payment Receipt, Download & save the same.

    • This Tax payment receipt will be used at the time of filing your Income Tax Return.

  • Step 5 continued-
    • Details like BSR CODE of Bank, Date of payment and amount of Tax will be entered in your ITR

    • Image of Tax payment Receipt/challan
